Hire Period

Our hire period is based on a 24 Hour period. i.e. 1 day hire is if your hire commences on Monday at 0800 to Tuesday at 0800 however if you return at 1400 Tuesday, this will be two days.

 

Payments

All prices include Good and Services Tax (GST) and are quoted are in NZD. Payment of your hire is made upon booking via credit card.

 

Infringements/Fees

An administration fee will be charged for any unpaid road tolls (including the Auckland Northern Gateway, Eastern Tauranga Link, Tauranga Takitimu Drive), unpaid parking fines, speeding fines or any other infringements incurred during the rental period. OnRoad Rental vehicles are non-smoking and a $250.00 minimum cleaning fee applies. The minimum cleaning fee of $250.00 will also be charged should you return the vehicle in an unclean state that requires additional more than normal cleaning including any sand/mud/stones/dirt/rubbish left in the vehicle.

 

Fuel

All rental vehicles are Full of diesel/petrol when you collect, they need to be returned with a full tank. In the event that you return a vehicle with less fuel than you collected, the fuel cost plus an administration fee will apply.

 

Drivers Licence

All drivers should hold a current full drivers licence and be over the age of 21. A current NZ, overseas or International licence (translated to English) is required and must be sighted upon commencement of your rental. If you fall out of this category, hold a lesser class license or are under the age of 21, you may be eligible to drive but incur a higher insurance excess.

 

Bond

A bond is payable and required for all hires.

 

Insurance

OnRoad Rentals daily rate includes full cover with a standard excess of $2500.00. You can reduce your excess by purchasing an optional cover to reduce the excess payable to between $500.00NZD-$1000.00NZD. We do not offer a $0.00 exess. Bookings, Cancellation & Amendment Policy

Our policy for accepting bookings, processing deposits, accepting cancellations and processing refunds is as follows:

  1. After the hire has commenced then as per the Terms and Conditions of Hire (the Rental Agreement). The following also applies and is to be read in conjunction with the Terms and Conditions of Hire and is detailed fully below:

(a) In the event of an accident there is NO OBLIGATION to either supply another vehicle or provide a refund for the balance of the hire term. Providing a replacement vehicle is at management’s discretion, but if the accident is not the hirers’ or nominated drivers’ fault then we may provide a replacement (subject to availability), again this is at management’s discretion

(b) In the event that the hirer wishes to terminate early. There is NO OBLIGATION to provide a refund for the balance of the hire period. However a refund may be provided in the event of “extenuating circumstances or on compassionate grounds”

  1. If a deposit has been taken, then the following will apply:

(a) Cancellation within seven (7) days of the hire commencing, NO REFUND. However a refund may be provided in the event of “extenuating circumstances or on compassionate grounds”

(b) Cancellation prior to seven (7) days of the hire commencing, FULL REFUND less $150 cancellation fee.

  1. Cancellation advice, MUST be received by us in writing (includes emails). A response will be sent to you confirming cancellation of the hire and where applicable details of any charges made under this policy.
  2. In the event of a “No-Show” following a confirmed booking being made and taken without a deposit being taken, One Days hire is to be paid.

 

COVID-19 Cancellation and Amendment Policy

Our standard Booking, Cancellation and Amendment Policy (above) now applies in ALL stages of the COVID-19 Protection Framework (Traffic Light System) however, if you are impacted by the COVID-19 Protection Framework, you have the flexibility to cancel or amend your booking at any time with a full refund or credit on file to use at anytime in the future with no cancellation fees. To qualify for a refund, credit; or if no payment has been made, a no-charge cancellation, you must be either (1) affected by a regional border control, (2) affected by the government to revert back to a Level 3 or 4 lockdown or (3) required by the Ministry of Health to isolate in which we will require proof of this.

If the NZ Govt revert back to an Alert Level 3 or 4 lockdown during your hire period (whilst you have one of vehicles), we are not able to offer any refund for unused days or if you return the vehicle earlier than expected.

All our vehicles are covered by 24 Hour AA Roadside Assistance – their number is 0800 500 222

 

One-Way Hires

OnRoad Rentals one-way hire fees apply for collecting and returning at different locations. For all same-island relocations i.e. Wellington to Auckland is $400.00. For inter-island relocations i.e. Queenstown to Auckland is $800.00.

 

Baby/Child/Booster Seats

OnRoad Rentals offer baby/child/booster seats for an additional cost per day. These are compulsory in New Zealand for children under 8 years old. Please order at the time of your booking and state the age/height/weight of the child so the correct seat can be fitted to your vehicle. We do not have any capsules for children under 6 months old.
